Connections curated by Maxwell McMaster
First Amendment Gallery is pleased to announce “Connections,” a new collaborative exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist and muralist Maxwell McMaster and 22 of his peers.
The origin for this show began as a personal narrative for McMaster, but he soon decided to expand. With “Connections,” McMaster has assembled a group of fellow artists and friends who have had a profound impact on his artistic practice, both energetically and technically. By showcasing the work of his fellow artists and friends, McMaster hopes to illustrate the concept that we are all directly or indirectly influencing and teaching each other through our action and approach.
For McMaster, the impact of the featured artists has spanned time, from his earliest work as a graffiti writer and his illustration work at Pasadena’s Artcenter College of Design, all the way up to his current practice.” “Connections” combines all of these formative ideas and genres into one show, thus highlighting each artist’s relevance and relation to today’s art world.
“I think it’s imperative to come together in order to grow,” McMaster stated. “We recognize our similarities while still celebrating our differences. I believe strongly in the notion of working together for a greater good, and I hope this show is a small step in that direction.”
First Amendment Gallery invites you to join us at 1000 Howard St. in San Francisco on October 24th from noon to 6pm for the opening reception of “Connections.”. Please note that this opening reception will be scheduled 30 minute appointments and require all guests to wear masks. To make a viewing appointment or for inquiries on the artist or available works, please contact daniel@1amsf.com.
