Press Release - "Archivio" by Martina Merlini

FIRST AMENDMENT GALLERY
ARCHIVIO
MARTINA MERLINI

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - First Amendment Gallery is proud to present Archivio, a solo exhibition by Italian-based artist Martina Merlini opening Saturday, September 8th at 7pm. The exhibition represents the evolution of Martina Merlini style and shapes since her first collaboration with curator Brock Brake in 2015.

Martina Merlini (Bologna, 1986) lives and works in Milan.
From illustration to geometric abstraction; a path that leads the artist to experience and learn about herself through various expressive contexts such as, among others, street art and installations. Materials such as wax and varnishes, applied to poor media as paper and wood, best express the constant research of a quiet and powerful compositional balance. Thick and symmetrical pictorial lines suddenly are disjointed by new forces and forms that seem to follow natural instincts and impulses. There has been numerous exhibitions dedicated to her, in Europe, America and Mexico. Among the various events and festivals which she take part are Living Walls, first festival of street art only for women held in Atlanta (USA) in 2012, the prestigious Le Mur in Paris, in 2015 and her last exhibition after a one month residency with artist 2501 in the museum of Queretaro, Mexico.

Archivio a project space solo exhibition by Martina Merlini will be on view through Friday, September 28th at First Amendment Gallery located at 1000 Howard St. in Downtown San Francisco.  Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 11-6pm.  To receive a preview of the exhibition contact info@firstamendmentgallery.com
